Nahum of Gimzo

Nahum of Gimzo
(fl. 1st-2nd cent)
Palestinian tanna. His system of exegesis was based on the view that in the Torah the untranslated Hebrew particle 'et' signfies that the word it precedes should be given a wide rather than a narrow connotation. This method was developed by his pupil Akiva.
